About us
We are a family-run materials recovery and recycling business based in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Founded by great-grandfather Anthony Hamptons in 1953, the company initially sold reclaimed wood before moving on to dealing with scrap metal. Fifty years later, Hamptons Metal Merchants acquired the waste management business Tidysite Skip Services, set up by Alan Butters in 1978. Having joined forces, the two companies went from strength to strength and moved to their current yard in 2019 as one group.
Hamptons Group has been investing in its recycling facility ever since, installing a range of modern high-tech solutions, such as a new picking station, shredder, granulator and twin ram baler.

Metal recycling
We buy all types and grades of scrap metal – ferrous and non-ferrous, domestic and industrial, construction and demolition – and pay fair and competitive prices for it.
Skip hire
Our skips range from a 2-cubic-yard mini to a 35-cubic-yard ro-ro, so you’re sure to find the right skip for your project. Our skip hire services are quick, reliable and flexible.
Heavy haulage
Regardless of whether you have heavy machinery, bulky artwork or any other oversized object that needs moving, we can help with the right equipment and experienced staff.
Waste collection
We collect commercial trade waste from business premises of all shapes and sizes and deliver a cost-effective solution that is tailored to your needs.
Vehicle recycling
We offer a quick, safe and hassle-free service and – if you’re based in our local area – we’ll collect your scrap car for free.
Tipper & HIAB hire
We’ve got a range of specialist vehicles for hire – including HIABs and tippers – for any heavy lifting and bulk cargo transports.
Used trucks for sale
From ex-MOD trucks to second-hand machinery, we have a variety of used vehicles and equipment for sale. Many of the trucks boast low mileage and have been maintained to a very high standard.
Demolition, ground works & site clearances
Whether you’re a domestic or industrial outfit, have a small or large site to clear, we’ll prepare your ground and/or facility as per your requests ready for the next stage.
Farm contracting
We’re here to help with your workload at peak times. Looking after our own farm, we have the equipment and knowledge required to get the job done.
